ASHLEY
Vocalist
Ashley joined us in March 2010. She is a very talented vocalist with her own demo and list of achievements. Maribeth met Ashley because they are neighbors. They started talking and we were looking for a good female vocalist to bring the band to the next level. Ashley auditioned and "knocked our socks off". She's a great singer and more importantly a wonderful person who fits right in with the group. We are blessed to have her.
"Music is in my blood. Not a day goes by that it’s not incorporated into my life. I decided to get serious with it junior year in high school, when I began performing a new song every week at a local dive in Southampton – Mardi Gras. The weekly routine of carrying in a keyboard larger than life and setting up for my big and only number continued for half a year, until the story of the one-woman-band grabbed the attention of The Southampton Press. I was interviewed and a small group of fans began following my progress. I went to a Mom and Pop shop in Southampton Village and designed my first set of business cards. Only a handful was distributed before Mardi Gras closed.
I went on to write songs and grab the spotlight at open mics, bars, school performances and karaoke – anything to keep the rhythm alive. After graduating Southampton High School, I began my four-year journey at Five Towns College. I worked with various artists, producers, audio engineers… kids just like me. A small school filled with big dreams. That’s where the magic really happened. Eventually, I furnished a demo CD and shopped it around to records labels in NYC. I held various internships that never had any job openings during my time of graduation. To make ends meet, I put my musical ideas on the backburner and accepted a job at a prestigious car dealership in Southampton. Since my knowledge was within the realm of music not mechanics, the job was short-lived.
I returned to my seasonal job at The Bathing Corporation of Southampton, where I’ve worked since I had my working papers. The songwriting continues, as I have nearly 300 songs in my music catalog. I was honored when my cousin asked me to write and perform her wedding song. My education gave me confidence, intelligence, and backbone. This winding journey has made me realize that sometimes we sacrifice. Sometimes our passions are not necessarily our careers of choice. I decided a long time ago that city life is not for me. Maybe it’s the Aquarian in me – I need to access the ocean anytime, and get in my car and drive alongside open fields."
"Just goes to show that no matter where life leads us, if we’re passionate about something, we can access it anytime. And the beat goes on…"
